Potter’s Wheel Taster Sessions
Have you always wanted to have a go on a Potters Wheel?
We have introduced a couple of Potters Wheels to HaaHoos so can offer you the chance to give it a try!
You can book a wheel taster session with one of our experts who will teach you the basics in wheel throwing and help you create wheel thrown pieces.
Suitable for ages 13 years and upward. (children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult who is also taking part in the activity)
These are small workshops of between 1 – 4 people so you will receive direct tuition and guidance in the creation of ceramic bowls and/or cylinders. We will provide all the clay, tools, equipment and kiln firing to make your pieces.
2 hour session for 1 person £95
2.5 hour session – for 2 people, £80 per person
3 hour session – for 3 people, £80 per person (please note we have 2 wheels so each person will spend some time ‘off’ wheel)
3 hour session – for 4 people, £65 per person (please note we have 2 wheels so each person will spend some time ‘off’ wheel)
The cost includes firing of two thrown items and the paints and glazing of your pieces. Any additional pieces you would like fired will be charged at £5 each. Fired pieces will be ready in 4 – 5 weeks.
Once fired, book back into the studio during our day time opening hours to paint your pieces. Please note an additional charge will be applied if you wish to paint your pieces at one of our Pots & Pinot adult evening events.

We currently have availability on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10am or 1.30pm.
Payment must be made when booking to secure your session. Send us an email or call to check appointment availability.
You can also choose to purchase a gift voucher for the value of a session. This can then be used to book a session with and a deposit of £10 is take to secure the date for you. This will then be deducted or refunded from any outstanding balance on the day.
Things to bear in mind when attending a Potters Wheel Session:
- Wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty (we will provide aprons)
- Wear flat, comfortable closed toe shoes
- Remove all rings, watches and bracelets beforehand, it may be best to leave these at home
- Come with short nails
- Tie back hair
- There is no guarantee of creating successful thrown pieces on your first try, come with an open mind and realistic expectations!

Though we would love to share our wheels with everyone, we do not recommend this activity if:
- You are heavily pregnant
- You have any back/hip issues
Cancellation Policy for Wheel Taster Sessions:
7 days or more from your booking we will allow a full refund or rearrangement to another date.
Less than 7 days notice but more than 48 hours will allow for a rearrangement to another date but no refund will be available.
No refund will be offered for cancellations with less than 48 hours notice.
